The Ritten in South Tyrol

Nestled in the heart of South Tyrol, the plateau of Renon, is defined by many as the Plateau of the Sun, where one can admire one of the most beautiful views of the Dolomites, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. Located above the city of Bolzano, the plateau is situated between the Isarco Valley and the Sarentino Valley at an average altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level.

This altitude and the extremely sunny exposure create a particularly mild environment in both winter and summer, creating ideal conditions in which to escape the damp winter months and muggy city summers.

Bolzano can be easily reached by cable car and the famous Renon train, which has been crossing the entire plateau and connecting it with the pretty villages of Soprabolzano and Collalbo for over a hundred years.
An ideal place for long walks, skiing, skating, tobogganing, hiking, cycling or horse riding, and many other countless activities, experiencing every minute of the day in a breathtaking landscape.

You will find unique natural landscapes that characterise South Tyrol and the Dolomites, where nature still knows how to dictate its laws and the people are still particularly attached to their traditions, but know how to look to the future with a touch of refined and cordial hospitality.

The Railway Ritten / cable car

The Collalbo station is only a five-minute walk away, from where you can take the Railway Ritten to Soprabolzano and then the cable car to Bolzano.

The sports facilities

The sports facilities of the Ritten Arena are only a few 100 metres away. Speed skaters and other sportspeople are therefore perfectly accommodated here.

Tradition & customs

On the Ritten you can also experience numerous festivals and long-standing traditions, such as the Oberbozen Kirchtag on 15th August or the Bartlmastag on 24th August.

Panorama

Almost everywhere on the Ritten you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Dolomites.

Earth pyramids

The earth pyramids can be found on the Ritten in Longomoso / Lengmoos, Oberbozen / Soprabolzano and Unterinn / Auna di Sotto.

Rittner Horn

With a 360° panorama, the Rittner Horn offers one of the most beautiful views in the Alps and can be reached via numerous hiking trails or easily by cable car.
